Elephant Safari in Kanha

Their are 03 Safari Zones in Kanha National Park, Madhya Pradesh. They are Kanha, Mukki & Sarhi. Elephant safari is the major attraction for wildlife enthusiasts. Elephant safari is available for tiger shows & for full day safari in the park territory. The elephant safari helps the visitor the reach the difficult places inside the park which is not accessible by jeeps. Mostly Elephant Safaris are preferred by wildlife photographers, documentary makers or by educational groups as it offers better penetration to forest, less disturbance in wild-watching and accessibility to places where safari jeeps cannot go.

Most easily and cheaper way to enjoy elephant safari is to participate in Tiger Show program. Tiger Show is a program organized after successful tiger tracking by trackers on elephants. It is organized in Morning Safari only. During Tiger Show, at a time 3-4 visitor are taken close to tiger and shown from elephant back for 5-10 minutes. It is a paid service who fee is collected by forest department official, on the spot.

Second type of safari is costly and can be enjoyed for longer duration in a day. Such safaris are need to be booked in advance and requires written permission of Field Director of Kanha National Park. Process for Elephant Safari booking should be initiated at least before 30 days or more. Safari permission depends on availability of elephants, purpose of safari like making film, educational, photography etc. and also area for such safari. Safari Booking Fee is charged in advance which includes security amount which is refunded later to visitor. On decided dates, elephant/s are get availed to visitor from elephant camps inside forest.

During your ride, you can watch the wild elephants taking bath in the water ponds. The photographers can easily take pictures of the wilds while riding and as a souvenir of the amazing journey into the wilds, take one with the elephant too.
